Welcome to Trident Prep Lusaka
It is with much excitement that we launch the new Trident Prep Lusaka development, due to open to pupils for learning in January 2022. Trident Prep Lusaka is a new Educore Services school set in four hectares of beautiful indigenous woodland opposite the Bonanza Golf Estate on Ngwerere Road. TPL will be the newest member of the well-established Trident Schools group, a group of four schools educating children from Nursery to Year 13 which already enjoy an excellent reputation in Zambia and Southern Africa.
My vision is that Trident Prep Lusaka will be an inclusive, multi-cultural, innovative school. Our ambition is that TPL students will have integrity, and will grow into responsible, respectful young people with good manners and traditional values.
Trident Prep Lusaka will offer a safe, happy, nurturing environment where our students’ well-being and their learning will be at the centre of every decision we make. We know how important it is to attract and retain excellent teachers, and this will be a priority for us. All teachers know that the atmosphere within a school contributes as much to the success of the students as the curriculum. It is about creating a school where children feel challenged but competent, where hard work is enjoyed and where achievement is not the sole objective. It is about creating a positive, loving, and happy atmosphere, a place where the education of our young ones is a shared responsibility of the teachers and the parents.
The school will offer the Cambridge curriculum for English, Maths and Science, and children will write the Cambridge International Checkpoint exams in Year 6. These provide a solid base for progression at secondary to IGCSE and A Level, which are offered at Trident College, as well as for other international programmes. A strong foundation in literacy, numeracy and the sciences is important to support children to excel in the other subjects, and Trident students are given a skills-based approach to learning in every subject.
I have recently been privileged to see the first yellow machines start work on this beautiful site, and the drone flying overhead doing its surveys. I write this with a real sense of excitement for all the good things that lie ahead of us on this blank canvas. Those of us, the pioneer students, teachers and parents who will be part of this new enterprise, will look back in years to come and know that we were fortunate to be part of this community, and part of this school.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
We are delighted that Rudi Brewis will be taking the next step in his established career in Zambian schools to become the first Headmaster of Trident Prep Lusaka. Rudi has worked in Zambia for 13 years, previously as Head of Primary at Simba International School. His most recent teaching post was at Martin House, where he was Head of Sport and Activities. His breadth and depth of experience means he is well positioned to lead the development of Trident Prep Lusaka.
Before settling in Zambia, Mr. Brewis grew up in South Africa, completing his tertiary education at the Goudstad Teacher Training College and the University of South Africa. He started his career in the highveld of Mpumalanga and spent eight years teaching in Botswana before moving to Zambia in 2008. He is married to Adri Brewis.
